The varsity volleyball team is trying to improve this volleyball season because the team has plenty of players without varsity experience. The team is putting a lot of effort and time into becoming the best they can be. Coach Louise Sackett is encouraging her players to improve and is finding any way possible to teach them how to play with one another.
“I’m just looking forward to the players to improve because we’re inexperienced,” said Sackett.
Sackett believes they are all family and one of the keys is to teach them unity. The previous varsity players are becoming leaders and dedicating themselves to teaching and learning as well.
“I will lead by example and always be encouraging,” said senior Clare Rodarte.
To prepare themselves for games they do many things. During practice, before games, and even timeouts the players deal with mental situations that help them learn how to stay focused and ready. Helping situations and picking one another up are also factors in preparing.
“We have team huddles before every game where they make chants to prepare,” said Sackett.
Working through school, practice and late night games are only the beginning of the girls’ toughest success. Their mind is set to push through every obstacle and succeed in this year’s season.
