YISD trustee Chavez, former trustee Duntley turn themselves in to FBI to face federal corruption charges

This morning, Sep. 2,  former Ysleta school board trustee Milton “Mickey” Duntley and current trustee Linda Chavez turned themselves in to the FBI as part of an indictment on federal corruption charges.

Duntley and Chavez were one of 11 on a stimulating list that contains Socorro mayor Willie Grandara, Sr. and other El Pasoans.

According to the YISD district website, Chavez is currently the District 7 trustee who represents the Del Valle area.  Her term expires May, 2012

Gandara Sr. was the first to turn himself over today at 7 a.m. Gandara arrived with his lawyer, Joe Sencer, and son, county commissioner Willie Gandara Jr. Soon after, Chavez and Duntley arrived. Duntley was accompanied by his lawyer, Mario Gonzalez.

The corruption charges will be formally revealed later this afternoon.

Former members of Access Healthsource, who was the district’s health-care provider, also turned themselves in.
