At the 2009 VMA Awards, Taylor Swift’s ”You belong with me” won the best female music video award.
Unfortunately Kanye West didn’t think she deserved it.
When Taylor went up to the stage to accept her award and began thanking people, Kanye stole the microphone from her and announced that he thought Beyonce deserved the award. Taylor was horrified and stood up on stage humiliated by what had just happened.
Later on Kanye had told news reporters that he had been drinking before the awards and he didn’t mean what he did to Taylor. Still, he lost many fans for his lack of resepect. He failed to show up to the awards parties. His tour with Lady Gaga was canceled and even his own employees left him. He suffered a hard reality check when he displyed his disresepctful behavior.
To this day Kanye still talks about that day in hopes that he gains back all the fans he had lost with multiple apologies and cries. The Latest news says he even wrote her a song in desperation to reach out to her.
“People tweeted that they wished I was dead…no listen,” he said. ”They wanted me to die. People. I carry that.”
Kanye tweeted that he wrote a song for the country singer and, if she did not accept it, he would soon perform it for her.
“She had nothing to do with my issues for award shows,” Kanye said through Twitter. ”She had no idea what hit her. She’s just a little girl with big dreams like the rest of us. Beyonce’ didn’t need that. MTV didn’t need that and Taylor and her friends family and fans definitely didn’t want or need that.”
Many pepole still do not think that his apologies were sincere. There are many blogs and websites dedicated to their hate for Kanye West. Many believe he is only apologizing for the sake of his career. They write about how they think he was wrong and very rude.
Swift is very mature for her age but when Kanye left her on stage humiliated, she looked like a lost child. Song or not, most can agree that Kanye doesn’t mean anything he says. The respect he once had as an artist is now tarnished. He will never have that back.
Even if Swift does decide to forgive him he will always have the burrden of what he did. Though the momery might fade he has scarred his reputation for life.
