Hanks students began to wrap up this year’s spirit week by having a fun and exctrordinary dress up day. The objective was for studens to dress up from babies to old folks.
The freshman were chosen to dress as babies and exemplify babies by having pacifiers and bibs. Sophomores dressed as toddlers with their stuffed animals and painted freckles. Juniors had the task to dress as adults as if they were ready to strive in their careers. Seniors got a kick out of the day when they were told to dress as grandparents. Many of them slapped on some baby powder on their hair, borrowed some clothes from their grandparents and walked the halls truly in character.
“It was fun and I’m sure we all got some good laughs,” said senior Luis Correa. “By the looks of it seniors have a lot of school spirit because I saw a bunch of old people today.”
Junior Monique Khory agrees.
“It was crazy because everybody looked like they were going to church,” said Khory.
Although many students simply took it as a joke and dressed up just for the fun of it some put a bit more thought behind the overall meaning.
“I thought that generation day was kind of silly bacause in a way it makes it seem like high school is your like, which of course it isn’t,” said senior Mathew Arrellin. “It’s like saying that freshman year is the beginning and senior year is the end. In reality it’s neither.”
