On Wednesday, Nov. 9. the football season for the El Dorado Aztecs came to a close after the University Interscholastic League denied an appeal after Jim Althoff, head football coach, reported to the governing body that the team played with ineligible players this year against district opponents.

Prior to the decision, the Aztecs finished the season in fourth place with a 5-3 district record.  After the appeal was denied, the team forfeited wins against Eastwood and Socorro to finish 3-5 on the season.

“the whole team, the coaches and the players, have to take responsibility for their actions,” senior Kriss Chacon said.  ”You can’t put a couple players ahead of the team.”

Coronado, and not El Dorado, will play San Angelo Central at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12 at Grande Communications Stadium in Midland.
