Students have been anticipating the winter break that will occur from Dec. 19, 2011 to Jan. 4, 2012. Normally that’s expected a few days before student’s are released to the much needed break, but have student’s been awaiting the school vacation for too long?

Earlier this year student’s in the YISD were given Nov. 21st to Nov. 25th off of school for Thanksgiving break. Once everyone came back from the relaxing break, many were anxious for to December to come around to get yet another break from school and all the work that comes with it. When students return from the first vacation, many aren’t in the mood to deal with grades, and become very lazy. Student’s tend to focus on the amount of days left until they’re free to do what they want.

Students believe going easy on kids for the three week period until vacation would be less stressful on kids and easier on teachers so that they won’t have to push so hard for everyone to pay attention during class hours.

“I enjoy breaks very much,” said sophomore Dallas Kyle. “It’s always good to get a break from everyday life, but I hate coming back to doing work. It’s always hard from sleeping late. and doing what I please at home, to doing work and worrying about turning in assignments. I understand that teachers can’t slack on giving us work to do, but it would be much easier if the last couple weeks weren’t so stressful.”

Whether one becomes lazy or not after a holiday break, student’s are still expected to work and keep grades up.
