Scary movies aren’t only for Halloween, and to prove it is the box office success for the first horror film of the year The Devil Inside.
The Devil Inside was released Friday, Jan. 6. Band-wagoners everywhere were talking about the film on whether it was good or bad. Regardless of what was said, the film was number one in the box office and made $34.5 million dollars on its opening week.
The Devil Inside director William Brent Bell and writer Matthew Peterman (both also known for Stay Alive) earned big by feeding audiences everywhere this paranormal film.
Although, the film did earn a lot of money on it’s opening week, the film wasn’t as good as the advertisement shows. A movie trailer is suppossed to show a preview on how “good” the movie is going to be.
“The Devil Inside was a pretty good movie it scared me a little but it wasn’t as good as I thought it was going to be,” said freshman Emily Martinez.
Before watching the film one expects to be scared to death from just the trailer but while the movie is playing there is endless talking throughout the film for it is unexpectedly a documentary.
When things start getting suspenseful and one is waiting to get scared out of their mind, all that happens is a “pop out”, changed voices, and very flexible people giving the audience a good scare but not making the horror film that memorable. Other then that there is was also footage of the real “Maria Rossi” making the film more interesting and more scary.
The Devil Inside is about a women, Isabella Rossi (Fernanda Andrade) trying to find out what is wrong with her mother Martha Rossi (Suzan Crowley). Now when two priest come in they tell her they can heal her mother she believes that they can but what they don’t realize is that the “Devil Inside” doesn’t stay in one place. The horror film is based on true events and at the end of the movie there is a website that one can go on and read the actual case of Maria Rossi.
The movie overall was enjoyable and did have its scary moments and if one doesn’t expect too much they might actually really enjoy the film.
