Rainy day

Album cover of Exeter.

Nice sunny day and a slight breeze makes the day even more comforting on my twenty minute commute home from school.  I ride my bicycle almost everywhere.

I got my bike five years ago, now a faded red beach cruiser, with a squishy seat and basket in front, which I had to put on myself, for my school stuff.

About halfway home, I decided to visit my friend that lived close by.  I rode up her driveway and was alarmed by the sound of her dog running towards me, a short fluffy brown dog that loved to attack anything that moved.

Knowing all too well what happens when he gets a hold of you, I threw my bike, ran and hopped over the little fence that blocked the front door, and shouted in victory!

“Ha-ha!  Not today dog!”  Being the loud person I was, my friend probably heard me because the door opened.  I turned around and there she was, “Geeze Lauren, why don’t you just put your dog in the backyard?”

“Ehh, he won’t go anywhere, see? Our fence is at least 5 feet wouldn’t you say?”

“I guess so, can I come in now?”

“Yes!  Get in here buddy!”

A frequent house guest I was, so I went straight to the fridge and got a cup of jello, and then to her room.  The scary thing about that room is just about a thousand of the eyes of Ryan Gosling looking at you the entire time, I still haven’t gotten used it.

After an hour of talking and laughing with her, I decided to leave and continue my journey home.  I said my goodbyes and was once again running away from the little brown devil.

When I got to my bike, I noticed that some of my papers were wet.  Maybe they were wet from the grass?  I was thinking trying to come up with what had happened while I rode away.

Then it hit me, all the little rain drops started to come down softly at first, but as I got closer to home, the soft sprinkles turned into a hard pour.  I couldn’t ride my bike anymore because it kept sliding off the sidewalk, and running was still difficult, but it was just a little ways to get home.

I was relieved to finally see my house and to get out of the rain.  I went inside and was dripping water all on the floor.  I ran trying not to get any water on the floor, and avoiding my mother.  But of course I failed, she caught me, threw me in the bathroom, and told me to be dry the next time I come into the house.

I was dry by the time I got out, and was tired.  Went straight to bed, but before, asked my mom to take me to school tomorrow.
