On Friday, Jan. 20, the lady knights softball team will have their first practice of the season.
Last year, the lady knights finished the season as bi-district champions with a 14-2 district record. The only district losses came against Americas and Franklin. They also made it to second round of playoffs but lost in the end.
“I’m really looking forward to this season,” said junior Candi Hernandez. ”Last year we were bi-district champs and we made it pretty far in playoffs but I hope that we make it just as far this year.”
The knights lost four seniors last year who were considered leaders on the team. This year the knights have nine seniors who are the team will rely on to make softball number one again and make it just as far in playoffs.
The main thing the girls want is support from both the student body and faculty at their games on Tuesdays, Fridays and sometimes Saturdays.
“We would really like to see people other than our parents in the stands this year,” said senior Jessi Garcia. ”We just want the same support like the other teams get.”
