Most eateries in America don’t accept any currency but American money or the restaurant’s coupons to purchase food, that’s not the case for the pizza chain, Pizza Patron.
Pizza Patron has been around for a few years, and has always allowed customers to pay with pesos. This has sparked a debate between people not only in El Paso, but also around the nation.
Students weighed in on whether or not they believe pesos should be accepted as a way to pay for their food.
“I don’t think that pesos should be allowed to pay for ones food,” said sophomore Heather Forhan. “We do live in America, not in Mexico. If someone has pesos that aren’t being used, there are places where one can exchange the pesos for American money.”
There is also the issue of fairness to consider.
Forhan went on to say, “Allowing that to be done isn’t technically fair to everyone else who doesn’t have the extra pesos to pay with.”
Whether one believes that paying with pesos at Pizza Patron is right or not, it seems that it’s here to stay.
