Even after 10 seasons, viewers across the nation still anticipate every year for American Idol to show.
This… is American Idol: Show still strong after one decade
Published on January 27, 2012
It’s only been two weeks since American Idol has aired and already there seems to be tough competition. Judges, Jennifer Lopez, Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler have heard some unique voices already, but as the saying goes, “everything’s bigger in Texas” and people who auditioned made that clear.
The excitement began as Baylie returned to audition once more for the show. The 21-year-old was just 16 when she first auditioned in Season 6 and was cut after the Group Day during the Hollywood rounds. Almost immediately after her audition, Lopez wanted to vote and send her to Hollywood. And that’s exactly what happened. Brown says she is ready for whatever challenges this season brings her.
A soft turn was took as they entered the emotional section of the episode of the auditions. Kristine Osorio, a soon to be divorced mother of three, made it through to Hollywood with her rock style voice. In a personal interview Osorio told producers she bought a plane ticket to audition for American Idol instead of paying her lawyer.
Idol always has that hand full of people who audition just to be funny and make a name for themselves. One of those people were Phong Vu, a random guy from Houston who just went to the audition for the heck of it. As different clips rolled by, Vu yelled out “Today my spirit will come alive!” He auditioned with a horrible version of “Unbreak My Heart”, showing the judges his “iconic moves.” It was obvious that he wasn’t going to make it through. “I definitely have more songs coming,” said Vu as he walked out with the cone of shame.
Although, some were rejected, the majority of auditions went well and this season is definitely going to be one to remember.
