The 36-28 Hanks varsity football team victory against El Paso High followed the clawing 65-10 loss against Andress Sept. 1.
For many returning students, the Sept. 8 victory stretched its significance due to the previous seasons' continuous loss.
"It was liberating after over a year of not winning," said Hanks linebacker Darian Escorza. "It brought our morale up and the whole team is on another level at the moment."
The first of three total touchdowns was executed by quarterback Austin Guerrero and followed by seniors, Rashon Peterson and Mykal Blanco.
"Games and stand tunes never fail to create enjoyable moments," said senior and band member Annell Prieto. "I had forgotten how nice it was to play the fight song other than just at kickoff. I can't wait to see what else they've got to put on the field.
Knights football will face Ysleta High School at Ysleta High Sept 15 at 7pm.
