Cosplay

Description:  Students who are interested in anime and mange stories who dress up like the characters and compete in contests at Comic Con events or wherever an official cosplay venue is held. According to the Cosplay Constitution, the Club: 1) Helps students further understand the trade of sewing, cosmetics and prop making; 2) students create costumes and props in their own interpretation of a specific character; 3) students display creations in either photography, shows and at conventions; 4) students are able to further the appreciation and knowledge of anime and manga through exploring different genres and types of characters.

G-Force

Description: G-Force members visit area high schools and work closely with 9-12th grade students to create a "college-going culture." G-Force teaches students how to enroll in any college or university.

G-Force is has defined roles as established by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board as part of the College for Texans Campaign.

HHS G-Force members develop and supervise Go Centers at J M Hanks HS and area feeder-pattern schools by making visits to the schools to meet with students and provide college enrollment, guidance, and support, academic tutoring, and mentoring.

G-Force members work closely with the Go Center counselor and student leaders to ensure the success of the program.

Description: Consists of three teams:  Freshmen, Junior Varsity and Varsity ... We compete locally and away (occasionally).   Our athletes compete in many different events, such as:  100, 200 400 meter dashes, the 110 and 300 meter hurdles, the 800, 1600 and 3200 meter runs, long and triple jump, high jump, pole vault, shot put and discus throws.  We also have relays: the 4 x100, 4 x 200, and the 4 x 400.

Description: Hanks Football has been in existence since the school opened in 1978. Over that time there have been five head coaches and numerous assistants. Jim Pufhal was the first head coach followed by Patrick O'Neil. After Coach O'Neil was Carl Klahn and then Ron Durkes. Cleveland, the current head coach, is in his eighth year. Hanks fields a freshman, jv, and varsity team each season with all three teams playing at least 10 games.

Wrestling

Description: The wrestling team, and its members, will know what it means to be people of character, integrity and champions. The team will strive to win individual and team state titles. In the process we want the wrestlers to know what hard work is and the results of making the right choices in life. If the wrestlers go on to be people of integrity and character, but never perform at the highest level on the mat, the program has done its job.
